The milk powder dryer is capable of converting 65,000 litres of milk per hour into 10 tons of powder, or 47,000 tons of powder per year, from standard whole milk powders through to specialty powders including infant formulae.  The 12 ha processing site has room for expansion with a total of 38 ha available as required.  More recent development means the site now also runs infant formula blending and canning lines, UHT production lines, and produces AMF, handling more than 630 million litres of milk per year and generating export revenue in excess of $700 million.

A 30MW coal-fired boiler powers the plant, capable of producing 42 tons of steam.  The company runs a separate electricity substation for the site, and treated waste water is spread on 300 ha of local farm land.

Milk powder products and UHT milk are exported primarily into the factories and supply chain of Yili Group, supporting the company as the fastest growing dairy company across the globe.

In addition to the staff free bus service, Hilton Haulage provides Oceania's milk collection under contract using trucks with 15,000 litre tanks and trailers with 23,000 litre tanks.

Laboratory on site:

Oceania has achieved FSSC 22000 accreditation and Step 5 (ceiling step) for MPI verification audits.  It also has auto approval for EDEC generation.  The laboratory is accredited under ISO:IEC 17025 (2017) and registered as an MPI RLP laboratory which provides international recognition for its results. Approximately 100 tests are required for milk and environmental monitoring. Before the investment in the new laboratory there were 35 test methods accredited by IANZ and most were registered under MPI RLP.  Test turnaround KPI for all tests is 5 days from date of receipt, supporting Oceania’s Agile Supply Chain.  Following the completion of the laboratory in 2020 more than 60 new tests were set up, with the support of a new LIMS.  The new laboratory capacity and capabilities has boosted staff numbers further and provided almost full on-site services operating over 7 days per week, significantly reducing the need for any external support.
